I am sure that many of
you are feeling the way I am right now -
that it seemed to be New Year's Day only
yesterday and yet here we are nearly half
way through February. The feeling that the
year is already flying by and so many of
those things we resolved to do or change
we haven't even started yet.
"A good resolution
is like an old horse which is often saddled
but rarely ridden."
Some of you may have seen something similar
to this as it did it rounds some time ago
- however even if you have it serves as
a powerful reminder as to how we approach
the rest of 2007.
1. LIE: Lie back and relax more
this year. Take a little more time to appreciate
the wonder of life. Watch a sunset, get
up early and watch the sun rise, go for
a walk and appreciate nature, get pleasure
out of watching your pets play, your children
laugh and being with your friends. If you
are feeling all stressed out - ask yourself:
"Is this worth my stressing over?"
"How important is this really?"
- stepping back often helps us to put things
in perspective. There are very few people
who on their death bed will lie there and
regret not having worked harder but there
are many who will lie there and regret not
having had more fun and taken more time
to enjoy life.
"If you can spend
a perfectly useless afternoon in a perfectly
useless manner you have learned how to live." Lin
Yutang
2. CHEAT failure. Don't be afraid
to try something new this year because you
are scared you will fail. Be excited at
the opportunity because there's a good chance
you will succeed - especially if you really
have the desire to. The only real failure
is the failure to try. And after all what
is failure really? - just getting a result
you did not expect or want. By re-assessing
your actions and the results, you are now
in a much better position to start again
with more wisdom, experience and focus.
"Failure is only
an opportunity to begin again more intelligently" Henry
Ford
3. DRINK from the fountain of knowledge.
Learn as much as you can from others, from
experience, from hindsight. We tend to forget
that there are many people who have already
been down the road we want to travel or
are travelling. Ask for guidance and assistance
for
shared experience - seek out those who can
help you along your journey
they are
there and willing!
"He who is afraid
to ask is ashamed of learning." Danish
proverb
4. SWEAR to do your best. All the
time
in every situation. You can't
do better than your best and resolve never
to do less than your best. Your best is
also dependent on your mind set - your best
will be different when you are feeling good
and focused and energetic. Your best will
give you more peace of mind - because if
you know you've done your best you will
not judge yourself harshly and critically
as
we are sometimes wont to do. By doing your
best you will be more productive, more successful
and more satisfied. Inaction is denial!
"Be the best at
what you do and someday you'll get noticed." Mike
Zaifert
5. STEAL some time for yourself.
Take time to spend quality time with you!
The state that you are in impacts on everything
you do and everyone you interact with. When
you are happy with you you generate
positive energy that in turn attracts the
positive - in both people and experiences.
When you generate negative energy, anger
and hate this in turn is what you will attract.
So steal more time to feed your own soul
- remember you cannot give to others what
you don't have yourself.
"And so while others
miserably pledge themselves to the insatiable
pursuit of ambition and brief power, I will
be stretched out in the shade singing"
Fray Luis De Leon
So if you lie, cheat, drink, swear and
steal a little more this year - 2007 is
guaranteed to be a happier, more profitable,
productive and enjoyable year in every way!
